SPEECH DELIVERED BY HONOURABLE (BARRISTER) ALIYU WAKILI BOYA - MEMBER REPRESENTING FUFORE/SONG FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY & CHAIRMAN HOUSE COMMITTEE ON POLICE INSTITUTIONS, AT THE DRY SEASON FARMERS’ MEGA EMPOWERMENTS & DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD STUFF TO 12,000 PEOPLE FOR NEW YEAR, HELD ON SUNDAY 29th DECEMBER, 2024, BEHIND FOMBINA AMBASSADORS HOTEL, ARMY BARRACK ROAD, JIMETA-YOLA.

It is an honour as well as privilege for all of us to gather again as usual for another empowerment, this time around for our Dry Season Farmers.
Though, we have two reasons for our gathering today, the first one is to have our local farmers supported with items that will enhance their irrigation farming activities and cash to also assist them with some miscellaneous expenses.
We all know farming is essential to Nigeria's economy and our society, because it provides food, employment, raw materials for industry, foreign exchange, and livestock sustenance. 
By empowering our dry season farmers in modern agricultural practices, we can have increase in production efficiency while also reducing poverty and joblessness. 
Agriculture is the main food source for humans and animals in Nigeria and worldwide. 
It provides various foods which helps to ensure that the population has access to balanced diet and adequate nutrition. 

Without agriculture, the survival rate for humans and animals would be diminished.
This is because agriculture remains critical for feeding the world's growing population as it provides the necessities of life, including food, clothing, and shelter, and plays a vital role in global economies.

If agriculture were to fail, the consequences would be catastrophic, leading to widespread hunger, diseases, and social unrest. 

That is why it is important to ensure that farming continues to be supported, sustainable and efficient even through empowering our dry season farmers for food security and numerous benefits.

The second reason of our gathering is for the distribution of food stuff and cash to our people to welcome and celebrate the coming of the year 2025.

For the 2024 Christmas, we have given out certain welfare both in cash and kind to our constituents to celebrate the religious festivity with a little bit ease.

Though, we are quite sure that what was given out will not go round to all our people in the constituency, however, it was done only to trim down the economic realities we are all going through in this country.
