WELCOME ADDRESS TO THE NEW POLICE CONSTABLES FROM FUFORE/SONG FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY BY HONOURABLE (BARRISTER) ALIYU WAKILI BOYA - MEMBER REPRESENTING FUFORE/SONG FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY & CHAIRMAN HOUSE COMMITTEE ON POLICE INSTITUTIONS. TODAY TUESDAY THE 4th DAY OF FEBRUARY, 2025.
With profound gratitude to Allah (SWT), joy and happiness for successful completion of your course and safe return, today is a special day for us after you went through rigorous training to arm yourselves with knowledge and skills so as to effectively and efficiently contribute your part in the peace project of our dear country – Nigeria.
This day opens a new beginning of social responsibilities on you after the passing-out, because your success attests to your grit, determination, sacrifice and zeal to serve Nigeria diligently. Police is a job that demands commitment because it is a role that will test your resolve in fighting crime, upholding the law and making Nigeria a safe and peaceful country.
It is worthy of note, that safety and security are necessary for our economic growth, social development, better education, health outcomes, and for social cohesion as well.
We all know crime affects the safety, well-being and cohesion of our communities because it affects the delivery of services and the functioning of public institutions. Therefore, if we did not tackle it, we will not build the better and secure society of our dreams.
It is for this reason that we made commitment to ensure you are part of the system, and your passing-out marks a great milestone in the implementation of that commitment.
Your graduation affirms your readiness to fully work for the Nigeria Police Force so as to help eradicate crime, to serve and protect Nigeria and Nigerians, as well as make citizens safe and secure.
I therefore urge you to wear the Nigeria Police uniform with pride and dignity, abiding by the Police Code of Conduct and committed to the service of general Nigerians. It is important that you remain vigilant, agile and alert at all times.
Not only that, you should also take firm stance against corruption or unethical conduct, and against any actions that could erode the faith of the nation in the police service.
You should work with communities to address their problems because you are as strong as the communities you are deployed to serve.
I applaud the Nigerian Police Force for its recruitment strategy, which saw qualified forensic scientists, criminologists and policing science experts joining the Force. Finally, join me in appreciating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Speaker Tajudden Abbas, NSA Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Police IG Kayode Egbetukun and CP Morris Dankombo for their support and encouragement towards the enrollment, training and subsequently culminating to your graduation, and now a fully Nigerian Police officers.
I also congratulate your parents and guardians, Fufore/Song Constituency, and Adamawa State as a whole for having you as our own; appealing to your parents, relations and friends to continue praying and supporting you in whatever way to discharge your duties diligently. I am assuring you that more employment opportunities are coming for people in different Government Ministries, Departments,
Agencies and Commissions, what they need to do is just to support and cooperate with the present Government. I wish you all excellence in your career in the police service, and remember to do all within your capacity to serve Nigeria with pride and commitment. Once again, thank you all.
